Howard Milton first studied painting in London at the Hammersmith College of Art under the influential portrait painter, Ruskin Spear. But it was Graphic Design at the London College of Printing and the tutelage of poster art designer, Tom Eckersley, which shaped his career.
Milton came to international prominence during the 1980s UK design boom, and was recognised for services and a lifetimes achievement to UK design in the Design Council’s Prince Philip award 2009.
But Milton never stopped painting and when he moved to Cornwall the hours in front of the canvas increased, whilst he also taught at Falmouth University of Arts.
He is a continuing exhibitor to the Osborne Studio Gallery in London and The New Gallery, Portscatho, Cornwall. In 2020 he was made a member of the St. Ives Society of Artists
